This summer, we were proud to stand in solidarity once again with the LGBTQ+ community at York Pride – a vibrant celebration of inclusion, visibility, and togetherness.
As long-time sponsors of the event, colleagues, residents, friends and family joined the colourful parade through the city, accompanied by the energetic beats of Banda Na Rua, a street percussion band that kept the crowd moving and spirits high.

At our stall, we welcomed visitors to take part in our popular spin-to-win game – with free prizes including tote bags, tea towels, mindful colouring kits and wildflower seeds. This gave us a brilliant opportunity to meet people, talk about our mission, and show what our values look like in action.
Even with a rainy start to the day, the skies soon cleared, and the atmosphere was full of joy and pride with expressive outfits, rainbow flags and a strong sense of community throughout.
Standing by Our Values
These are:
- we show we care
- we are built on trust
- we make a difference
Taking part in Pride is just one way we show our support for LGBTQ+ residents, colleagues, and communities.
“It was fantastic to be involved as a JRHT resident – both in the planning and on the day itself. I felt truly welcomed, marching alongside other residents and staff. It was a joyful, inclusive experience.” Nik Milner, resident
This year, JRHT also signed the LGBT+ Housing Pledge, which helps us better listen to and reflect the voices of LGBTQ+ residents in the work we do.
