Something magical has quietly bloomed at New Lodge Care and it’s not just the flowers. A surprise addition to the back garden has captured the hearts and imaginations of residents, colleagues, and visitors alike.
A few weeks ago, without any announcement, a beautifully crafted willow sculpture appeared in the garden. Surrounded by lush grass and splashes of colour from swathes of annual flowers, it has quickly become a talking point across the community.
But the transformation doesn’t stop there. The landscapes team have created six new raised beds full of beautiful flowering plants, adding vibrant life and creating a peaceful space for everyone to enjoy. Even those with limited mobility have been able to visit and experience the new garden, thanks to its thoughtful layout.
The sculpture, which is a generous donation from local willow artisan Leilah Vyner of Dragon Willow, was quietly arranged over a month ago. The idea was to create a moment of joy, curiosity, and beauty for residents of the care home. Judging by the response, it’s done just that.
Adam Warren, Landscapes Manager, said: “The garden has sparked plenty of conversations and visits. Everyone’s been talking about it. It’s been lovely to see so many people enjoying the space. A huge thank you to the Landscapes Team who are behind this wonderful transformation. The garden has been lovingly improved over recent months, and the sculpture is a great addition.”
