Thanks to feedback from residents and families, we’re excited to introduce a new addition to the Derwenthorpe play park.

The well-used but worn overhead beam in the play park needed replacing and Adam Warren, our landscapes manager was keen to involve residents and families in deciding what should take its place.

Wendy Boreman, resident said “Instead of just replacing it, residents and families were given the opportunity to vote for their preferred new piece of equipment. The resounding consensus was this wonderfully constructed set of monkey bars to cater for young teens. Having been installed just in time for the summer holidays, feedback suggests it is already very popular and will be much loved for years to come”

The new Monkey Bars are a fun and challenging feature designed to build upper body strength and coordination, offering a classic obstacle course experience. To make them accessible for different heights, four stepping pods at varying levels have been added.  The ladder itself is wide and high, giving plenty of space to swing and move with ease.

The new equipment is made from natural Robinia wood, which blends in with the existing play park design and is durable in all weather. This new equipment is recommended for ages 13 and up.

A big thank you to everyone who shared their ideas and helped shape this latest improvement to the play park.
