We have appointed RE:GEN to carry out a major programme of energy efficiency improvements across a number of homes within Yorkshire.
The work will focus on making homes warmer, more energy-efficient and cheaper to run, helping residents to stay comfortable while reducing household energy bills and carbon emissions.
The programme is funded by Tees Valley Combined Authority and co funding from JRHT. It is part of the government’s Warm Homes Social Housing Fund Wave 3.
Improvements may include:
- Upgraded insulation (walls, roofs, or floors)
- New energy efficient heating systems and controls
- Improved ventilation to reduce damp and improve air quality
Amy Somerville, Retrofit Programme Manager for Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust said: “This exciting opportunity will bring real and lasting change to our communities — making homes warmer, healthier, and more energy efficient for those who need it most. It’s a privilege to be part of a programme that will help to tackle fuel poverty but also seeks to make homes more resilient to the impact of climate change. We can’t wait to get started working with RE: GEN. “
Tom Nicholson, Commercial Director for RE: GEN Yorkshire, said “We’re delighted to bring RE:GEN’s expertise and our personal commitment to this project, delivering meaningful improvements to customers’ homes. Partnering with JRHT is especially significant for us, with a strong alignment in values and a shared focus on impact. It also marks an exciting step forward in our continued growth across Yorkshire. We’re really looking forward to getting started.”
Nik Milner, resident, and member of Victoria Geldof Community Group said:” It’s brilliant to see homes in Huntington included in the first year of the programme. A lot of families here are really feeling the pressure from rising energy bills, so this comes at an important time. We’re hopeful it will bring lasting improvements - warmer homes, lower costs, and a more comfortable, healthier place to live for everyone.”
Work is expected to begin later this year. Residents whose homes are included in the programme will be contacted directly with more information and support.
