We have submitted a planning application to convert empty office space into 12 new apartments at Hartfields. These homes are part of Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust’s plan to provide 1,000 new homes by 2030.
Working alongside Anthony Watson Chartered Architect (AWCA), plans have been developed to transform the office space and day centre previously let by Hartlepool Borough Council into 12 apartments.
Both the office space and day centre have remained empty since the start of the pandemic in 2020, when the council decided to adopt new ways of working. Therefore, the council have decided not to renew the lease from August this year.
When Hartfields was originally built in 2008, the spaces available for let were structurally designed to be easily converted into apartments.
In July, we held a series of tailored resident engagement sessions including one on one home visits and a wider drop-in session to gather feedback on these plans. We analysed the feedback before submitting the planning application.
Nicky Smith, Assistant Project Manager said, “It was great to hear positive feedback about the plans and how these additional apartments would really benefit the community at Hartfields.”
