We’re delighted to share that the first affordable homes at the new Bramble Wood development in Wheldrake are now complete and will soon be handed over to residents.
Earlier this month, representatives from JRHT joined David Wilson Homes and Luke Charters MP to celebrate this important milestone. Bramble Wood is a new community of 139 high-quality homes, including 42 affordable homes for social rent and shared ownership. These homes will help meet the growing need for affordable housing in North Yorkshire and give local people the chance to stay in the area and put down roots.
Luke Charters, MP for York Outer, said: "York is facing a real housing crisis, with too many local people priced out of the communities they grew up in. I regularly hear from friends I went to school with in York who are now unable to afford to live here. That’s why it’s so important to see genuinely affordable homes being delivered in York Outer - and it was great to see that these are high-quality houses, built to a strong standard and designed for the future."
Sharon Kenny, Interim Director of Development, said: “This partnership is helping us deliver high-quality affordable homes that local people need, both now and in the future. By providing a mix of social rent and shared ownership homes, we are creating opportunities for people to stay in the area and build their lives here. We’re delighted to see this important milestone reached.”

Families moving to Bramble Wood will benefit from nearby schools and childcare, including Little Peanuts Day Nursery and Wheldrake with Thorganby Primary School, with secondary schools in easy reach by bus or car.
