Recently colleagues, volunteers and local partners came together for a Neighbourhood Day on our Woodlands Estate, helping to tidy the neighbourhood while providing an opportunity to connect with residents.
Six community skips were made available, giving residents the chance to dispose of unwanted household items responsibly. Throughout the day, our Housing Team also visited residents door to door to make sure their household information was up to date, helping us keep our records accurate. These conversations gave residents the chance to share their views on their community, tell us what they'd like to see in the future, and let us know how they'd prefer us to communicate with them.
We were delighted to be joined by volunteers from GoodGym, who did a fantastic job litter picking across the estate, helping to make the area cleaner and more welcoming. Community Bees were also on hand to offer advice on reducing waste and reusing unwanted items, as well as providing one of their popular pink recycling bins so residents could safely dispose of electrical items.
The day's impact
- Over 59,000 litres of waste removed from the estate
- A large quantity of metal recycled
- Six mattresses disposed of correctly
- 12 large bags of litter collected by volunteers
To round off a successful day, residents enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream while spending time with neighbours and the teams supporting their community.
