About New Lodge, York

The local area

New Lodge care home is a purpose-built registered care facility. The home sits within the New Lodge community, which also includes a group of apartments for the over 55s. We’re located in New Earswick, an Edwardian garden village near York’s historic city centre. New Earswick is also home to the popular Folk Hall, which serves as the hub of the community.

New Lodge has 45 individual care suites, each with lift access and overlooking beautiful landscaped gardens.

Suites are comfortable and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of space and useful storage. Each suite has a level-access wet room and is fitted with a dedicated emergency call care system, giving residents immediate access to the care team.

Our rooms and facilities are all wheelchair accessible, and can easily be adapted with accessibility aids for ease of living.

The specially designed communal areas at New Lodge include:

  • a garden room
  • an on-site hairdresser
  • dining rooms, homely lounges and social seating areas
  • secure, landscaped gardens

We run regular activities to help our residents stay healthy, active and social.

Care and support (including extra care services)

At New Lodge, care is person-centred. Our fully trained and experienced care team create individual care plans for each resident, making sure their physical, social and emotional needs and preferences are met every day.

Our kind and attentive staff work hard to create a relaxed and friendly environment in which our residents can be themselves.

Food and mealtimes at New Lodge

We support all of our residents with diet and nutrition advice. Our head chef Paul Murray and his team prepare fresh, tasty meals that are nutritionally balanced, with plenty of options for those with special diets and nutritional needs.

Mealtimes at New Lodge are more than just food, they’re often a social activity. We bring fun into the dining room with a calendar of themed events. You might find us celebrating a national event, or featuring our residents’ favourite childhood dishes on the menu. There are always new flavours to try and new experiences to share.

Social activities and travel

We encourage our residents to enjoy their hobbies and to try new activities. Our programme of activities and events are lead by Activity Co-ordinator Baz Larner and his team of volunteers, with the support of care home staff in bringing laughter and creativity to the residence.

Visitors and guests

We are fully open to visitors and there are no restrictions on time, we do ask that visitors wear a mask in communal areas. If a resident has Covid or we are in outbreak then it is the nominated visitor that can only visit.
