Applying to rent
Our priority is to offer the right guidance and information to anyone who is looking for a property. We want to help you make informed decisions about where you choose to live. This includes the type of home you want to live in. Your request for location, size and type of property will be taken into account when we fill a vacancy. We use a points system to assess housing need. We look at how your current home falls short of your needs. Points are allocated for different types of housing need (for example overcrowding). The greater your housing need, the more points you will get. Higher points means a higher position (priority) on the housing list.
There is high demand for all our rented properties, with more than 1,000 people currently waiting for a home. This means that, depending on your circumstances, you may have to wait a long time before we can help you. Existing tenants looking for a different property can also look into transfers and mutual exchange with other tenants.
If you want to be put onto our housing list then you must follow these steps:
- To find out more details about how your information is assessed, please read the housing registration information pack;
- Then complete Part one of the housing application form;
- If you have specific medical needs then you must also complete the 'Health assessment questionnaire'. Please ensure your GP, consultant or a suitably qualified person completes and signs pages 8 and 9;
- If you require sheltered accommodation, you must complete the 'Sheltered housing support questionnaire'.
JRHT is an inclusive organisation and welcome residents from all backgrounds regardless of their age, disability, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, transgender status, or social economic backgrounds.
