Housing Ombudsman Consultation on new Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs)

The Housing Ombudsman is inviting residents living in social housing to share their views on the proposed changes being made to the ombudsman service under the government Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs) policy introduced last year.

What is STAIRs?

STAIRs gives housing association tenants the right to ask for information about how your home and services are managed. This allows you to ask JRHT for details on our policies and procedures relating to:

  • Complaints handling
  • Our procedures and performance
  • Health & Safety measures
  • Rent rates
  • Property conditions, repairs, and improvements
  • Service charges
  • Anti-social behaviour
  • Stock profile
  • Energy efficiency
  • Estate management

How you can take part in the consultation

The housing ombudsman consultation survey can be completed online, by email or post.
Full details can be found at: Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs) consultation

The consultation is open until 17 March 2026.
