Children and families were invited to take on a thrilling space mission at the Egg Landers Workshop, held at the Folk Hall in the Easter holidays.
This exciting holiday activity challenged young space explorers aged 3 to 12 to design their own spacecraft and land a precious “egg-cargo” safely on Mars.
Using everyday items from around the house, participants put their problem-solving skills to the test, thinking like engineers as they built, tested, and perfected their landers.
More than just fun, the session was a hands-on way to explore science, teamwork, and creativity - all wrapped up in a Mars mission!
Spaces filled up quickly for this popular workshop, highlighting the enthusiasm for creative, educational play during school holidays.
Families also enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with free packed lunches, snacks, a cooked meal to take home and a chocolate easter egg, which were kindly donated by staff from JRHT.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us - and keep an eye out for more fun sessions like this coming soon.
This activity was part of the school holiday activities programme which is funded by the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT).
One of the parent’s said: “It meant I could take them to a fun activity that we otherwise couldn’t afford.”
Egg Hunt within New Earswick
As part of the Easter celebrations, eggs donated from staff at JRHT were also hidden around New Earswick for residents to discover, adding a little more joy (and chocolate!) to the Easter holidays.
