We are excited to announce that the Gwiddle Coding Club is relaunching at the New Earswick Folk Hall.
This initiative is a partnership between Keeping Digital Foundation, Yorkshire’s leading digital inclusion charitable organisation and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, aimed at bringing fun, free coding sessions to the local community.
Coding fun for all!
Gwiddle Club York provides a friendly, welcoming environment for young people aged between 7 and 17 and their families to explore coding and tech skills together. Whether you are a beginner or already have some coding experience, everyone is welcome to join in , work on exciting projects and take on new challenges. Friendly volunteers are on hand to provide guidance, encouragement and support in a relaxed setting.
The club will meet fortnightly on Mondays, starting from Monday 30 September 2024 between 4pm-6pm in the Discovery Room at the Folk Hall in New Earswick.
Luke Castle, Community Coordinator at the Keeping Digital Foundation commented: "We’re thrilled to be working again with the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust to bring our coding clubs to the New Earswick Folk Hall. These free coding activities have been running in York since 2016 and have become even more popular post-pandemic.
Recently, our sessions have been fully booked, and moving to the New Earswick Folk Hall will give young people even more space to create amazing projects and develop vital skills."
Connor Lambert, Digital Inclusion and Information Accessibility Officer at the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, added: "We’re very excited to welcome the Gwiddle Coding Club to New Earswick Folk Hall. This club offers young people a fantastic opportunity to learn coding in a positive, supportive environment, with volunteers from Keeping Digital there to help. We can't wait to see the innovative projects they will create!"
