As part of the ongoing work to investigate the issues with the roads, a contractor ‘Core Technical Sampling (CTS)’ have been instructed to gather information about the composition and conditions of the roads within Stephenson Quarter (Phase 1) in Derwenthorpe. This involves drilling holes and removing samples from the different layers within the road.
The samples will be used to assess the quality, durability, and strength of the road. This assessment will be used to develop a plan to fix the current issues with the roads.
The work will start during the week commencing the 17th July at Derwent Way and Derwent Mews. It is expected to take no longer than 3 days to complete.
Due to the nature of the work, there will be some noise disruption which will be limited to short periods of time – expected to be no longer than 20 minutes per hole. Local signage and cones will be at place at each location. The contractor will try to keep any disruption to a minimum.
