The year ahead

January is a time for making plans and this is very true for JRHT. It is a time when we look back at the progress we have made and plan our projects for the year ahead.

At the start of 2020, we could not have predicted the global pandemic and as such, some of the projects for 2020 had to pause at times, to safeguard the health and safety of our residents and staff. But we did not put everything on pause.

We made changes to our Housing and Communities Teams bringing increased flexibility and capacity, to make sure we are ready to work with residents and communities to improve and modernise what we do and how we do it. ​We have recently recruited a Communities Lead and Service Transformation Lead and you will hear more about them over the spring.

And we welcomed a new group Chief Executive for JRHT and JRF, Paul Kissack.

Plans for the year ahead

In December, the JRHT Board discussed and approved plans to:

  • Take account of the Social Housing White paper – A new charter for Social Housing Residents
  • Sign up to commitments set out in the National Housing Federation “Together with Tenants” Charter
  • Grow the service providing money and benefit advice to residents.
  • Increase the information we make available about our performance and work

We are also planning long term work on how we will deliver on the Government’s target to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050 and improve the energy efficiency of homes by 2030.

Resident Census

We have now completed the resident census, to find out more about you and your communication preferences. It closed on 15 January with more than 784 people having completed it in full. Those who completed the survey before the closing date were entered into a prize draw and three residents will be receiving a £50 high street voucher.

Resident Survey

In February we will be conducting a resident survey to find out how you rate the way we provide services for your home and community. Again, you will be able to complete the survey online or on paper.
