We're getting ready for the grand re-opening of our Folk Hall in New Earswick on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September.

Our Folk Hall re-opening weekend is nearly here. Join us between 11am and 4pm this Saturday and Sunday for two days of activities and entertainment with fun for all the family.

You can take a sneak peak at the refurbished Folk Hall, including the new Orchard Hall, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtTwGS4hP6E&feature=youtu.be. Our community development manager Fi Godfrey-Faussett speaks to That's TV York about how it has changed and what's new.

On Saturday at 12pm, the Chief Executive of the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, Campbell Robb, and The Rt Hon. the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Keith Orrell, will together officially re-open the Folk Hall. Fiona Williams, the CEO of Explore Libraries and Archives, will also speak at the opening.

You and your family will also be able to enjoy a climbing wall, a community lunch, a bake-off competition, a children's film and disco, craft and fun activities, face painting and much more! All the activities will be free to take part in.

On Sunday night, the Swing Commanders swing band will perform live in the Folk Hall. The performance is free but you will need to book a place. Tickets are available at the Folk Hall reception and a limited number are available.

The weekend is open to everyone. You don't need to live in New Earswick or be a Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust resident. This is your opportunity to take a look around the Folk Hall and meet members of its team.
