Each year JRF / JRHT joins other organisations across the country to celebrate Pride, helping to raise awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans (LGBT+) issues, promoting equality and diversity and working towards the elimination of discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation.
In previous years, residents and other members of our communities have joined us in a range of Pride related activities, such as participating in the York Pride march through the city. Unfortunately, organised large events and gatherings will not be taking place this year due to COVID restrictions.
However, over July and August, residents from across JRHT communities are invited to get involved in activities to celebrate Pride.
Here are just a few things which are taking place across JRHT communities:
- An array of colourful planters across our care communities
- Painting and craft activities
- Freshly baked Pride themed cupcakes from the Folk Hall café as well as an informative display celebrating Pride.
In addition, members of the LGBT+ JRF / JRHT staff network will be distributing ‘Pride postcards’ in July. Residents are being invited to display these postcards in a window of their home during summer to show their support for the LGBT+ people in their community.
