Residents celebrate Chinese New Year at New Lodge!

Posted on25 Jan 2020

Chinese New Year is celebrated throughout the world with 20% of the world’s population celebrating this very important festival.

Residents living within our new community at New Lodge decided to join in the Chinese New Year celebrations. Each year, it is Chinese tradition to celebrate the beginning of a new year and 2020 has been named as the Year of the Rat.

People spend time with families, exchange gifts and eat special food together. Their houses are decorated with red lanterns and other red decorations which are thought to bring luck, wealth and happiness.

The team at New Lodge decided to surprise residents with their own Chinese New Year!

Residents enjoyed spending the evening together and joined in with a singalong.

Our talented catering team from the Folk Hall, provided residents with a delicious array of traditional snacks and classic Chinese dishes to enjoy.

Baz, Activities Coordinator said “Residents really enjoyed celebrating the Chinese New Year together and tasting the delicious Chinese dishes on offer. Each month, I work with residents to provide numerous activities and events for them to enjoy.”
