Last week, a public consultation was launched to seek feedback on plans to build 114 new and affordable homes on land off Sim Balk Lane in York.

Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust have partnered with Gateway Developments to develop these plans which will help meet local need for affordable and decent homes within York.

These plans are part of Joseph Rowntree Trust’s commitment to provide more affordable and decent homes.

The plans include 114 homes of which 100 will be family homes, 10 accessible one -bedroom bungalows and 4 accessible three- bedroom family bungalows.

All of these homes will be either Shared Ownership or Social Rent meaning these will be affordable for residents.

David Boyes-Watson, Deputy Director Development & Asset Management from Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust said: “We know that homes play a major role in everyone's lives. When our homes are of decent quality, the comfort and security they provide enrich our lives and support our mental and physical health. That’s why it’s essential for everyone in the UK to be able to access and afford a decent home.

These plans for new homes off Sim Balk Lane would help contribute to meeting York’s growing demand for affordable homes, including for people who require accessible accommodation. We look forward to receiving feedback about these plans”
