The people shaping our communities

Posted on13 May 2020

Thank you to all our residents for your creativity and support in helping our communities stay connected in these uncertain times. We wanted to share some recent highlights with you, including our celebrations of VE Day

Coffee time at Court Green, Scarborough

At Court Green, a development for elderly and retired people in Cloughton, residents enjoy their morning coffee together while carefully observing the guidelines on social distancing.

Residents of the two-storey residential blocks now take an 11am coffee break together by sitting out on their apartment balconies, so they can chat at a safe distance and wave cheerfully to passers-by!

One resident commented, “This has brought us all much closer together. I know more about my neighbours now than I ever did before!”

New Earswick All Blacks Rubgy Club donate activity packs to New Lodge

New Earswick All Blacks (NEAB) have reached out to their local community to support residents living in New Lodge. The rugby club, which is situated in New Earswick, wanted to help people in the local community during this difficult time.

The care home is currently closed to all visitors so the NEAB were very keen to make sure that residents had things to do and were not bored during this time. NEAB thought it would be best for people to be kept occupied and have donated jigsaws, puzzle books, paint by number kits and other activities.

Victory in Europe 75th anniversary celebrations in our communities

Residents enjoyed sharing their memories of VE day and both staff and residents worked together to make it a special day. From community singing to taking a moment to reflect and be proud it was a special day for all.
