Following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection at New Lodge recently, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) are pleased to announce that New Lodge has received an overall 'good' rating for its residential and extra care services.
The service received a 'good’ rating in all of the 5 CQC Key Lines of Enquiry which includes safe, caring, effective, responsive to people’s needs and well-led.
New Lodge is a vibrant community for the over 55s which comprises of a residential care home as well as extra care apartments. The community is situated within the garden community of New Earswick and provides safe and compassionate care in stylish and modern surroundings.
This is the first CQC inspection that has taken place at New Lodge since it opened in October 2019. The CQC routinely inspects all new services but has only been carrying out limited inspections due to the coronavirus pandemic, therefore delaying this inspection of New Lodge.
We are delighted with the outcome of this inspection, which can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of Lucy Atkinson, New Lodge Registered Manager, and her team.
The staff were praised for their kind and caring approach with residents. They have developed positive relationships with residents through meaningful conversations and spending time with them to find out their diverse needs.
Residents received person-centred and responsive care, and care plans and risk assessment were detailed and provided staff with information to maintain people's quality of life.
Chris Simpson, Executive Director of JRHT said, "I wish to pay tribute to Lucy Atkinson (Registered Manager) and the entire team at New Lodge for the amazing job done. At JRHT we are very proud of this result and look forward to building on this, to develop the service in the future."
