Following the World Health Organisation’s declaration that Coronavirus is a public health emergency of international concern, the UK Chief Medi​cal Officers have raised the risk to the public from low to moderate.

However, this does not mean that they think the risk to individuals in the UK has changed. This remains low risk and only a concern if individuals have travelled to certain areas of the world.

Public Health Guidance

For everyone else, current guidelines are to go about your daily routine – but there are precautions that we can all take to maintain high standards of hygiene and reduce risk:

  • Thorough hand washing and using hand sanitiser gel
  • Catch it, bin it, kill it – use tissues, bin them immediately after use and use hand sanitiser gel
  • Be alert for symptoms and call NHS 111 if you have any concerns
