It’s almost that time of year again and as usual, our JRHT communities will have a whole host of festive activities coming up for all ages. After another tough year, it feels good to be able to celebrate the festive season in person once again.
The people of New Earswick are extending the monthly Sleeper Market to the Folk Hall for a Christmas Extravaganza on Sunday 5 December. There will be a wide range of local and handmade gifts available at the sleeper path and the Folk Hall. All Saints & St Andrews Youth Band will be getting shoppers into the festive spirit with seasonal tunes and carols. The Sleeper Market at the sleeper path will be open 10am – 2.30pm, with the Folk Hall market open 11am – 3pm. Make sure you head to both sites to get your fill of festive treats.
Santa will be landing his sleigh at the Folk Hall, New Earswick, as part of a special event, hosted by the Folk Hall and Film at the Folk Hall. The event, from 12.30pm on Sunday 19 December, includes pizza from 1pm and a showing of festive film favourite Home Alone at 2pm. Santa will be paying a visit after the film! Tickets are just £1 and available online or from the Folk Hall. A licensed bar will be available, as well as drinks and sweets at the interval.
Staff at Hartfields, Hartlepool, are hosting a Christmas Fayre on Saturday 4 December, with a variety of stalls selling a range of seasonal gifts and goodies. Residents are also getting into the festive spirit with their now infamous Festive Bake Sale on Thursday 16 December from 2pm until 4pm. Check out Hartfields Facebook page for more details.
Residents, families and friends at Plaxton Court, Scarborough, will be enjoying ‘An Evening at the Opera with Victoria Wright’ on Monday 13 December. Victoria will be singing some well-known pieces from the musicals and operas, and residents can enjoy mulled wine, mince pies and other festive treats.
On Sunday 12 December, residents at both Plaxton Court and Danes Dyke can enjoy Christmas Carols outdoors with the choir from St Marks, Newby and St Luke’s Church. And the Salvation Army Brass Band will be visiting Plaxton Court again this year on Sunday 19 December, treating residents to an array of Christmas carols after their Sunday lunch.
Back at New Earswick, the team and residents at New Lodge are excited to finally be able to host Christmas events in the community’s new residents’ lounge. The team are hosting an array of seasonal celebrations, including festive floral decoration, Christmas felting and the first ever residents Christmas party at the Folk Hall.
We’d love to know what you have planned. Please let us know if you have any festive activities coming up in your community by emailing us at [email protected] or sharing the details on our JRHT Facebook page.
