We keep a list of residents interested in renting a garage. There are 371 garages in various parts of New Earswick and some garages in Clifton , York .

We review rent charges every April.

You can register your name on the garage waiting list. We deal with registrations on a highest points (and then date of registration) basis. You can print a garage application form from the link here.

We will probably be able to make you an offer of a garage quicker if you are willing to take a garage anywhere in New Earswick.

If you already have a garage in New Earswick but would like a second garage you can still join the garage list but would not take priority over someone who does not already have a garage.

If you already have a garage in New Earswick but wish to exchange it for another more suitable for your requirements, you register to join the garage list and your registration will be dealt with in a points and date order basis. If you accept the offer of a garage and its location is not entirely suitable and you wish to stay on the list for an exchange, you must be aware that you will be required to re-register which will result in your position on the list being amended.

A tenant in rent arrears (house or garage rent account) can join the garage waiting list. It is unlikely you would be offered a garage unless either the rent arrears are cleared or are being regularly reduced.

Priority will be given to Disabled Badge holders over everyone on the waiting list. You must provide us with proof of your badge, which we will copy.

There is no restriction on the number of offers of a garage

Paying your garage rent arrears

What happens if my garage rent account gets into arrears?

Falling behind with your rent payments is very serious and may lead to the loss of your garage if not tackled early enough. You should contact us as soon as possible to talk about the debt.

We recognise that on occasions such as sickness, accident, redundancy etc you may have less money coming in to pay your rent. We can work with you to try and find a solution to this problem

If your rent account gets into arrears, and you do not come to an arrangement with us to reduce them we will take measures to recover the money owed. We are willing to work with you to reduce your arrears.
