Hartfields set to open

Hartfields formally opened by Councillor Carl Richardson

On 31 July 2008, the first phase of Hartfields retirement village in Hartlepool, was formally opened by the Chairman of Hartlepool Borough Council, Councillor Carl Richardson.

Hartfields is the result of a partnership between the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, Hartlepool Borough Council, Hartlepool Primary Care Trust (PCT) and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust. It is based on an innovative new concept called 'extra care'; which is aimed at enabling older people to live in their own home, in a socially stimulating environment, with support available, if needed.

Diane Costello, Hartfields General Manager summarised why the development is proving so popular "Hartfields is a forward-thinking development that offers top quality accommodation and wide-ranging facilities that are second to none".

The first residents are expected to move in on Monday 18 August.
