Red Lodge is an integrated care facility for older people
situated in the garden village of
New
Earswick, three miles north of the centre of York. It is
suitable for a range of requirements: from those people who have no
care needs whatsoever, but want to live in a supportive
environment, through to people who require the full services of a
residential care home.
Accommodation
Accommodation at Red Lodge consists of 63 self-contained
apartments and seven bed-sitting rooms. 42 of the apartments are
registered for the provision of residential
care.
Sheltered and
extra care support is available for residents living in the
remaining 21 apartments.

The apartments consist of a bed/sitting room, kitchen area and
en-suite bathroom. All accommodation includes a two-way intercom
emergency call system for contacting care staff and telephone and
television points. The rooms are served from central corridors,
which incorporate well-equipped pantries for the preparation of
snacks and light refreshments. A number of the ground floor
apartments have their own patio leading into the landscaped grounds
of the complex.
Communal facilities
The communal areas provided for the benefit of residents include
a dining room, sitting room and library services, together with
hairdressing, recreational facilities and a small treatment room.
There is also a day centre, which allows residents to socialise and
participate in a number of different activities.
Care and support
In addition to residential care, the following support services
are available for those residents, who do not require the full
services of a care home.
Home help
- cleaning
- laundry
- shopping
- ironing
Personal care
- dressing/Undressing
- bathing
- medication
- toileting
Pop in
- emotional support
- meal delivery
Outside care support includes:
- GP visits if required
- chiropody Service
- escorts for hospital visits
- others as directed by GP (eg Physiotherapist,
Dietician)
As part of the integrated care concept, if a resident's support
needs increase beyond the above, then it is possible to transfer to
residential care, without having the distress of having to move
accommodation.
At Red Lodge, independence, privacy and dignity are given the
highest priority, which creates a supportive, relaxed atmosphere in
which to live. We provide for the care and support of each resident
on an individual basis. Bespoke assessments are carried out on a
regular basis with the assistance of
MDS
(Minimum Data Set). MDS is a government approved care assessment
tool, which takes into account the physical, emotional and social
aspects of a resident's life. It identifies the needs of the
resident and helps in the formulation of comprehensive care
plans.
A total of 35 members of staff provide assistance and support to
residents at Red Lodge. All of these are appropriately qualified
and trained to deliver high standards in care.
Financial arrangements
The residential care fee per calendar month is set until 31
March 2006 at £1,501. This is payable monthly in advance by direct
debit. We operate a loan stock and bursary scheme and details of
these are available on request.
The current charges for support services are also available on
request.
Management
The importance of resident contribution to the running of Red
Lodge is both recognised and encouraged. The Red Lodge committee is
responsible for providing a channel of communication between the
operations of Lamel Beeches and the JRHT and considers all aspects
of its operation. The committee is made up of a combination of
residents and members appointed by the JRHT.
Terms and conditions
Red Lodge is registered under the Care Standards Act (2000) to
provide residential care to 42 older people. It is also registered
as an agency for the provision of domiciliary care.
