Lamel Beeches is located one mile east of the centre of York. This beautiful care home provides accommodation and the highest standards of residential and nursing care for 41 older people. Lamel Beeches is a comfortable, homely environment, where individual's rights to privacy, dignity and independence are respected. Our aim is to ensure that residents to feel as they are in their own home, rather than in a care home.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided in either one of 33 single bed-sitting rooms or 4 larger bed-sitting rooms, (which are suitable for couples). Each room has its own en-suite facilities, two-way intercom system, which provides a direct link to care staff 24-hours a day and telephone and television point. All the first floor rooms benefit from a French door which opens onto a private balcony and ground floor rooms have a picture window, which opens onto a paved patio area. New residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture and personal belongings to create a homely environment.

Communal facilities

The communal areas provided for the benefit of residents dining areas, quiet lounge areas, overlooking the central court yard, a small shop, hairdressing facilities, laundry room, recreational activities and medical treatment room. In addition, on each floor of the complex there are well-equipped pantries which residents can use to prepare light snacks or refreshments.

Care and support

Lamel Beeches is suitable for older people who are no longer able to live totally independently and who have support or care needs. It is registered to provide both nursing and residential care. This means that as well as a team of appropriately trained carers, a total of 12 qualified Nurses are employed and there is always at least one nurse on duty at any one time.

We provide for the care and support of each resident on an individual basis. Be-spoke assessments are carried out on a regular basis with the assistance of MDS (Minimum Data Set). MDS is a government approved care assessment tool, which takes into account the physical, emotional and social aspects of a resident's life. It identifies the needs of the resident and helps in the formulation of comprehensive care plans.

Outside care support includes:

• GP visits organised if required
• Chiropody Service
• Hospital visits
• Others as directed by GP (e.g. Physiotherapist, Dietician)
