Hartrigg Oaks is an ideal retirement option for people aged 60
plus. Housing with the availability of care and support when
needed is provided, allowing residents to remain independent and
live life to the full in a socially active environment.
For the majority of people who join this vibrant community,
Hartrigg Oaks provides a 'home for life', which means that many of
the worries that people have about ageing are addressed, allowing
them to get on with enjoying their retirement.
Hartrigg Oaks is the first
Continuing Care Retirement Community in the UK to be based on
an actuarial model. This works in a similar way to an insurance
scheme, so that a need for care does not lead to an increase in
fees. It is this unique feature that allows residents to have
peace of mind with regards to costs, if they choose the
pooled-finance option.
Well situated in the garden village of
New
Earswick, Hartrigg Oaks is only three miles from York City
Centre and is within walking distance to shops and amenities.
Accommodation
Hartrigg Oaks is spread over a 21 acre site, consisting of 152
spacious one and two bedroom bungalows and 42 en-suite bed sitting
rooms within The Oaks Care Centre. Some of the bungalows have an
additional room in the roof, which can be utilised as a bedroom,
lounge or office, and each bungalow has an easy to maintain garden
plot.

All accommodation is built to a high standard and conforms to
Lifetime Homes design, which means that it is suitable for people
at any stage of the life-cycle. The whole site is monitored by 24
hour CCTV to provide enhanced security.
Couples are given priority in the allocation of two bedroom
bungalows.
Active retirement living
Hartrigg Oaks is a very active community and the people who join
find that there is certainly no need for the pace of their
lifestyle to slow down, unless of course they want it to!

Care and support
There are two teams who provide care and support at Hartrigg
Oaks:
All our care professionals have the skills and experience to
provide high quality care, the majority having either qualified
with the Joseph Rowntree Certificate in Care, appropriate NVQs or
the Registered Managers Award. We also have a number of fully
qualified RGNs and a RMN, who specialises in dementia care.
We provide for the care and support of each resident on an
individual basis. Individual assessments are carried out on a
regular basis with the assistance of
MDS
(Minimum Data Set). MDS is a government approved care assessment
tool, which takes into account the physical, emotional and social
aspects of a resident's life. It identifies the needs of the
resident and helps in the formulation of comprehensive care
plans.
