Dormary Court is home to 15 adults with learning difficulties who require care and or support in a residential setting. Two of these places are offered for respite care.

Location

Dormary Court is located in New Earswick, which is less than three miles north of York City Centre. New Earswick is a garden village, which was originally built by Joseph Rowntree just over a century ago and is now a close-knit and friendly community, of which Dormary Court, plays an active part.

Facilities in the village include a number of shops, library, sports and tennis club, swimming pool and folk Hall.  In addition, the village has good public transport links to both Haxby and York City Centre.  More info

Management of Dormary Court

Dormary Court is a joint venture between the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) and the York Mencap Hostels Association. The home is privately owned by the JRHT and is managed by Jill Dunlop (Head of Adult Services) and Anne Dracup (Head of Home). Jill has over 20 years experience managing our Adult Services facilities and Anne came to Dormary Court when it originally opened in 1984. She worked elsewhere for a period during the early nineties and returned as Head of Home in 1997.

Registration

Dormary Court is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) as a Care Home for Adults with Learning Difficulties. The CSCI Inspectorate regularly carry out audits of the home to ensure appropriate standards of care and accommodation are provided for the residents and that the home adheres to national prescribed care standards as laid down in the Care Standards Act 2000. An up-to-date CSCI Inspection Report and full staff profile are freely available at the home upon request.
