Motto

The motto for life at Alder House, is as follows:

"We believe that every individual has a right to control his or her own life and to share in the opportunities, enjoyment, challenges and responsibilities of everyday life. We exist to enable men, women and children with cerebral palsy and associated disabilities to claim their rights, lead fulfilling and rewarding lives and play a full part in society. We shall achieve this purpose through a wide range of activities and services which respond to individuals' needs, choices and rights".

Management of Alder House

Alder House was originally a joint venture between the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) and the York and District Cerebral Palsy Society (Y&DCPS). The home is owned by the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust and is managed by Jill Dunlop (Head of Adult Services) and David Crampton (Head of Home). Jill has over 20 years experience managing our Adult Services facilities and David, who was appointed to his current position in 2004 is a qualified social worker with nearly 30 years experience working in the care industry.

We consider it extremely important that residents have the opportunity to voice their opinions and take an active part in the running of their home. This includes active representation on the Management Committee.

Registration

Alder House is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) as a Care Home for Adults with Physical Disabilities.

The CSCI Inspectorate regularly carry out audits of the home to ensure appropriate standards of care and accommodation are provided for the residents and that the home adheres to national prescribed care standards as laid down in the Care Standards Act 2000. An up-to-date CSCI Inspection Report and full staff profile are freely available at the home upon request.
