Directions to The Garth and Hartrigg Oaks
Approaching from the south on the A1
Leave
the A1 on the A64 towards York. Turn onto the A1237 outer ring road
signposted York (North). Head north going straight over six
roundabouts, continuing towards Scarborough, Hull and Selby. At the
seventh roundabout, turn right, signposted New Earswick.
For Hartrigg Oaks - continue along this road to
the first mini roundabout. Turn right and then immediately first
left. Follow the road to the main central building where car
parking is at the front.
For The Garth - continue along this road for
approximately 1 mile going straight over the mini-roundabouts and
past Red Lodge on the right. Just after Elm Tree Mews
development on the right, turn right into White Rose Avenue. Take
the second right and The Garth will be immediately on your left.
Limited parking is available at The Garth, and in the car park
attached to the Folk Hall, further along White Rose Avenue on the
right.
Approaching from the north on the A1
Leave
the A1 on the A59 towards York and continue until you reach the
A1237 York outer ring road. Turn left at the roundabout and
continue straight on over four roundabouts. At the fifth
roundabout, turn right, signposted New Earswick, then follow
directions above.
Approaching from the east on the A64
Leave the A64 on the A1237 York outer ring road. Follow the signs
for Thirsk and Harrogate. At the fourth roundabout, signposted New
Earswick, turn left, then follow directions above.
By train
York is on the East Coast
Mainline. Taxis are available directly outside the station and The
Garth is approximately a 20-minute taxi ride.

Foundation:
Approaching from the
north
Leave the A1 on the A64 towards York.
Turn onto the A1237 outer ring road signposted York (North).
Continue until the A19 roundabout, and turn off right towards York
(central). After approximately 1.5 miles you will reach a set of
traffic lights, turn right onto Water End. The gates to the
Homestead are on the right, just past the pedestrian
crossing.
Approaching from the
south
Leave the A1 on the A59 towards York and
continue until you reach the A1237 York outer ring road. Turn left
at the roundabout and continue until the A19 roundabout, then
follow the instructions above.
Travelling from any other direction
Head
for the A1237 and follow the instructions above.
Parking
Visitor parking is signposted at
the front of the building.
Travelling by train
The Homestead is a short taxi ride from York
station.
