The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, established in 1968, is a
York based charity and a registered social landlord. It is part of
the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and
Trustees and staff are the same.
We own the freehold of nearly all the properties
in New
Earswick (including homes for rent, shared ownership, and full
sale, the shops, the communal facilities and the schools). We act
as the landlord for the rented property and support
the community and educational
activities in the village.
We also carry out housing and care schemes in
York and Yorkshire. These are of a developmental nature,
demonstrating new forms of tenure, meeting special needs and
exploring new features of design.
Our objectives are to:
- Provide and maintain high standard homes and adjoining
environment.
- Provide high standards of care and support to residents in
homes.
- Facilitate the operation of sustainable, cohesive and
supportive communities.
- Provide homes
affordable to those in housing need.
- Engage residents in
governance and service delivery.
- Provide a helpful and efficient service to residents and
potential residents.
- Undertake new initiatives and
demonstration projects and publicise results.
- Maintain a well skilled, motivated and supported staff
team.
- Maintain a
sound financial
position to enable operational objectives to be
achieved.
